This is my Polycount contest entry for my Desert Eagle skin titled Star Shooter. You can view this skin in the workshop here:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=688415849My idea behind this skin comes from 70s & 80's sci-fi weapons, in particular some of the toy/replica weapons that came out during the time period. I think a "toy space gun" type of theme will really help capture the "70s and 80s" part of the contest that I've struggled with capturing in my previous skins. I also don't want it to look exactly like a toy, so I will attempt to balance the line between toy gun and realistic weapon. I will have to keep the style simple to stay within the Mil-Spec tier.
EDIT: Weapon has been finalized and submitted to the
workshop.

Nothing impressive, but this is where I'll be starting from.
Back to work now. Added an angle to the top part.
Playing with some "vent" ideas. These will likely change.
Vents moved around. Body line added and worked a little in the top red area - trying to give the illusion of some LEDs or something inside.
Worked on the handle. Will likely change since I'm not crazy about the far right side.
Small changes to the front of the gun to make it a bit more interesting.
Playing with some colors now.
Brought some more color in with the "buttons." Still undecided on the front color.
Since I couldn't decide on a color, I decided to use all the colors. I think it looks pretty cool.
Finally got it on the model. Had to make some changes to the grip since it didn't project well. Just going to do some general clean up and some burn and dodging here and there and I think I'll be near completion with this one. I don't want it to get overly complex and out of the Mil-spec tier.
Weapon design has been finalized and published. Here are a some in-game shots! More images can be seen in the first post of this thread and on the workshop page.
