! FINAL VERSION !
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=692440729Hello everybody, this is it. The skin is done and we present to you the final version of the RushBot-Skin for the AK-47 (name has been changed, SuperCircuit is no more). Check out the final presentation shots and make sure to scroll further down to read about our inspirations and the creation process.
Remember: all the information you need is in this post, no need to scroll further down!

Soooo...what has changed since the last time? Here's a little update:
Let's start with the case. For those who don't know: we tried to emulate the look of "classic" (aka old af) computers like the Commodore 64 or the Macintosh with their indistinguishable yellow/beige-ish cases. On the top, there are darker plates which give the AK a bit of a rough look, some parts have been damaged and patched again (as we have so often seen in the movies you can find in the reference sheet). We decided to leave the wood parts untouched (they have a lighter tone, but that's it), because we think that the wood is an important part of the AK's identity and shouldn't be altered.
An important part of the look are the microchips, which create the impression of a circuit board. On top and on the magazine are wires. The mag also includes some sci-fi bullets with cheesy colors (70s/80s amirite?). We tried to add some perspective to make it look like the bullets are actually inside, to create depth. It looks good in F-mode, thought when reloading, the illusion faints a bit.
Last but not least, there are some danger signs (high voltage) and other written stuff (80 Ampere).
In the handle are batteries, inspirational was the Westworld movie, in which weapons went low on battery and couldn't be used anymore. We changed the colors from green red to green gold, in order to have a certain harmony between them and the microchips.
Like in classic 70s/80s sci-fi movies, the weaponskin we made looks like some kind of hightech weapon, that has lots of stuff on it, to actually give the impression that it works, although it doesn't make any sense (weapon powered by batteries?!). But those who know 70s/80s movies know what we're talking about. Because that was essentially what they did.
RushBot is 70s/80s on the outside, and sci-fi on the inside.
Feedback would be very much appreciated (it's too late to change anything, but we would be very glad anyway).
Cheers,

BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL POST WE DID IN THIS THREAD. TAKE A LOOK FURTHER DOWN TO SEE OUR PROGRESS. ABOVE IS THE FINAL PRODUCT.
Hi guys!
flow754 and me teamed up on this skin. We had the feeling that most of the awesome skins posted yet are trying to use the sepcific weapon as a kind of canvas for epic sci-fi scenes. So we had the idea to - instead of doing just that - work around the AK-47's geometry in order to make a skin that really fits. Following the 70s/80s sci-fi trend of AI and robots, as seen in "Terminator" or "Westworld", we decided to create a stylized skin that shows the real high-tech nature of the weapon. Similar to iconic scenes in above mentioned movies (Arnold Schwarzenegger ripping of his facial skin, revealing the machine he actually was) the rather rough/unspectacular outside of the AK-47 would be just a masquerade, for a high-tech weapon.
We decided to replace the AK's steel with a classic Commodore 64/Macintosh plastic case. Also, we added/will add a floppy disk, some wires, circuit boards, microchips, etc. The wood will later be cut open and reveal even more electronics.
The magazine is also open, we tried to draw in perspective to create the feeling, that the user is actually looking inside the mag. To contribute to the sci-fi flair, we added futuristic bullets.
Here are some pictures of our Work in Progress:
To sum up: Similar to 70s/80s movies, which often featured characters that were human on the outside but machine on the inside, our skin is 70s on the outside and sci-fi on the inside. Doing so, the weapon stays a weapon and is not just turned into a canvas.
Stay tuned, updates follow soon! Cheers,

We added some more circuit boards and a set of batteries to make the ak look even more like a cheesy 70s sci-fi movie prop, but we're not done adding details yet. Have a look below for a glimpse at what's to come.
Cheers!
Our finish is quite literally taking shape as we're currently working on projecting the image onto the original 3d model alongside further refinements. As you can see there're still many visible artefacts on perpendicular polygons, but we're about to sort that mess out soon.
If you guys have any feedback for us, we'd love to hear from you.
i love the details at the clip and above it *-*
GREAT FINISH!!!!
hope u guys win this
