Late to the table as usual... but here I am!
Going to try to make some concepts that I can go after. 
In the start not going to not try to limit myself with colour theory etc, but I know roughly what kind of colour scheme I want. We'll see how it goes

Love the glowing blue highlights around the trigger!

Thank you.  I'm currently changing the tan parts. But i think the blue and orange ones stays

Quick update on my part. Need to change a lot of things I think in order to make this feel consistent. 
But at least it is progress now

Managed to get it into the workbench as well to see how it would look!

fixed the grip. Although think there's some hue shift between the front and backside of the main body, the stripes. 
Need to look at that tomorrow.

I am missing the yellow/orange ring in the front as the wear gets heavier. but I like the added texture as it has been used more

I think this might be the finished piece.
It has definitely changed since the concept art, but I think it is much stronger and coherent in terms of design now. Although slightly less simple than I was thinking of
