I really wanted to check whether UFOs would be an option. Looks better than I expected, but I won't pusue this any further, because it would be too much for mil-spec IMO.
What do you think about hidden UFOs on the backside, that can only be seen when inspecting the gun?
Did you make the skin a patina in order to get it to fchange colors based on wear? Also how do you control the colors of the wear? I am trying to make my own mp9 skin that utilizes this, and I am fairly certain that it is a patina in order to achieve this, but I havent really been able to find anything online about this.
you have to use patina and use the colours you can set in the workbench. It is explained in detail in thisguide
as you see on the M4, it also works on gunsmith, since a predefined part of that is patina
I managed to create a shiny effect in patina, that resembles the anodized styles by setting the phongalbedoboost to 0 and then editing the Alpha channel in the pattern I wanted to be reflecting more. I personally love this effect, but if you want your skin to be accepted, be careful, as I am not sure wether this is an effect valve wants to see in game.

Added some bigger stars.

First Concept of this as an M4A4 Skin
I think with some work this could become an awesome skin
I think this time I'll go with Gunsmith for higher coverage, to match the skins tier
my thoughts on the current state. I am redoing the dark parts. Guess there won't be any more UFOs now
I changed the obvious parts and the alpha layer so the patina part of the gunsmith has a reflective pattern
wrapping it up for today
this skin is begginning to feel good, but there is still alot of fine tuning to do
