Started a new concept sketch today. Asteria is a temporary name subject to change. I plan to add logos and text that make it a lot more 70s, 80s themed and will add grime when I apply the texture in 3D.
Tried to make it work with the segmented colours but I couldn't get any patterns to look good, so I sketched out a new one that I'll start to work on soon.
Mapped out the main colour schemes in 3D-Coat. Grey will be chrome later when I get around to painting it. Also thinking of muting the colours. Possibly swapping them for pale blue and grey. Have been very busy lately so hopefully get to work on this more tomorrow.
The chrome on magazine is cool, but the body part looks super unrealistic.
Yeah I haven't touched the body yet. Although tested in game the whole thing looked like plastic. Currently trying different contrast levels out. This is a lot harder than I originally thought.
Made a lot of progress today. Doing a lot more work as the deadline comes closer. Changed up the colour scheme to keep myself interest. Also re-did a lot of the chrome. The '08' is a placeholder for now. I'll be using the font elsewhere but I want to replace it with a retro space logo.
Most recent in-game test. I think I'm happy with the blue. Need to start work on the white tomorrow. Chrome continues to stress me. Thinking of changing it to polished silver just so it's less complex in the overall design. Would appreciate feedback on the scratches. Can't decide if they're too much or not enough. The 08 looks pretty good so I've decided to keep it.
Just finished the alpha but it's causing problems with the metal strip on the body. Going to try to fix it but might end up just using the default alpha.
