where do people get textures?

as the title indicates i am a total beginner, i once wanted to texture a bed so i searched for textures but i couldn't find any that met my needs, so i had to texture with what i found,so my question is how to get a specific texture if it is not out there, how to make it, especially cloth textures since they are rare as i found out ?

what if it is not on these websites, i mean how to get a custom texture, a texture that you imagined not just found ?

If it doesn't exist you make it yourself. Either by handcrafting or you use tools like Quixel and Substance to help you with the process. But this is a complex topic. You might want to check the wiki first.

You can take pictures yourself, edit them, make them tileable, etc; or make them by scratch using patterns in photoshop, simple shapes. For cloth you could start with a small tileable pattern, tile it a few times, apply weathering, color patterns, and so on.
