This is my Polycount contest entry for my Desert Eagle skin titled
Control Circuit. You can view this skin in the workshop here:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=683283135My idea behind this skin comes from old sci fi control panel screens that have been seen in many games and movies over the years. After seeing a few different style screens, I decided I would try to explore this style in my own work. I will have to keep the style simple to stay within the Mil-Spec tier.
I feel the deagle doesn't have enough "random" pattern skins to chose from so my goal with this skin is to have variation - I want every skin to be somewhat unique in appearance. In order to accomplish this, I will be creating a simple pattern that can be placed over the entire weapon model and allow the game to control how the rotation of the texture is displayed.
EDIT: Weapon has been finalized and submitted to the

Inspiration
I will be using simple shapes similar to those above to create a repeatable pattern.
Update
Playing with a few different pattern ideas. All in rough stages at the moment.
Update
Put together a pattern that I like. Got some lines, squares, and circles just like many of the retro panel screens have. Colors dulled down a bit. Now to make more variations of this pattern to make it all feel a bit more random.
Variations added and another color introduced. Should be pretty smooth sailing from here since I am intentionally keeping things simple to fit the lower tier deagle. Next to project the pattern onto the weapon.
Pattern is on the gun now. Perhaps a bit too simple at the moment so I will experiment with ways to give it a bit more depth. It looks a bit strange at the moment, but keep in my the game will rotate and change the way the pattern is displayed on the gun which should allow for tons of unique designs.
Added a smaller pattern behind the bigger one to give it some depth. I feel this gives it a more sci-fi feel.
Some in-game shots to show how the pattern rotations can look. Of course there tons of different possible ways the pattern can be displayed.
Weapon design has been finalized and published. Here are a some in-game shots! More images can be seen in the first post of this thread and on the workshop page.
