Hi, I am new to polycount. I would like to get some critique on my character. I would like to submit it as a Dota 2 Courier. Any advice, suggestion, and comments will be greatly appreciated. I will really help me out. Thank you.
I tried to sculpt some details and color in some parts of the model. I still have some fixing to do. I am still trying to figure out the color scheme for the character as well as the look. I still have not adjusted the hook, but i will do that for my next post. Any advice will be helpful and greatly appreciated. Thx.
Are you using substance painter 2 for this? They have a shader set up for Dota 2 (just in case you didn't know). You should work out your overall dark/light gradient for the character first. Dota 2 characters have a top(lighter) to bottom(darker) overall gradient. The other thing that helps is to give your low poly a general base colors block out. I would recomend you do these two things first before painting in any detail.
I have some critique. The overall character idea is good, however, I would say the fur is much too busy. I don't think that would fly, so to speak. Also, you would want some color gradiation - as per the above poster, with the art assets guide. You would also want to detail the ears, for instance, with definition. I hope it was something like this you were after. Cheers!
Thx for the advice, I reworked the model by expanding the wings. I followed the guide and worked out its silhouette, value, and color scheme. Please let me know what you think.
Hey there, This is a great start! You did a good job of showing the gradient/value/color indivuually in your last post but now you need to make all of them work together. Here's an image to try to explain.
