I am CaptainMcCain and in this thread i will keep you updated on my anodized multicolored PewPew skin for the MP-9. The cool thing about this skin will be that it is going to have random drops, so every drop will be a unique mixture of color and pattern. This is not my first skin contribution. If you like check out my previous work, especially my M4A4 | Maple Hero --> http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=448351449&tscn=1462635269 <--. I am not a professional, i only do this for fun and i am new to polycount. I like the idea of sharing my work in progress with you guys and hope to get some decent feedback and suggestions from you. Cheers!
Step 1: Create polycount account
Step 2: Gather some intel on what to do and decide on the color scheme
Step 3: Fire up the workshop and decide on the weapon. I will go with the MP-9 and maybe add the M4A4 later.
Step 4: Get the color scheme on the gun and check out some possible outcomes
Step 5: Playing around in illustrator to create a nice pattern
Step 6: Applying the pattern. Unfortunately had to change pattern_scale to 2 because otherwise the pattern would get blurry That means that there probably will not be any single colored guns. Also i am not happy on how the diamond part of the pattern causes scratches. I will need to find a fix for this or maybe go without the diamonds.
Step 7: Finishing the design. Unfortunately i had some personal issues so i did not have the time to finish this skin the proper way, so there will be no ingame footage of this skin, just a couple of workshop screenshots sorry guys. Changed the colors a bit and got rid of the diamonds that caused the scratches. Below the preview image of the finished skin. See the workshop link which i will provide soon for more possible outcomes.
Step 8: Sample UV Chart + Pattern. Kind of useless since the UV Chart is different for every outcome.
Step 9: Upload to the CS:GO Workshop. Almost done.
Step 11: Adding an M4A4 adaption of the skin, changing the color scheme to a silver surfer style: M4A4 | Silver Surfer. Hope you enjoyed my progress, i am quite satisfied with the M4 as the result. I do not have the time and power to provide ingame footage/videos of the skins since i had to finish this project on my notebook, but i hope you can get a feel of the skins with the provided images and gifs in the workshop.
