Re-posting this here, to create a more formal setting for the content to be in.

Phase 1

I started this project thinking of a unique off the wall way to show the features from classic sci-fi films of the late 70's early 80's. To do this I looked to Ridley Scotts Alien (1979). When looking at this film and rewatching it a number of times, I saw a way to create what I was looking for through raised portions on the gun much like Kanes space suit, however as we all know we cant sculpt on top of the current models that are in csgo.

I decided to use the raised and indented areas of the suit as inspiration, I wanted to create motifs to go on the skin that showed off the film and the artwork done within without copying anything and not breach any copyright laws.

My first step of the project was to create the base layer of the gun. Which was a bronze/copper type metal which I could then make wear in game to reveal its iodized state, which is a blue/green colour.

However I was not happy with the effect I was getting or the feel from the raised sections, I looked at the suit in more detail and really loved the way everything was framed on the bulk of the raised areas, I included some raised looking lines to get the effect of these borders; as well as creating a motif that I felt represented the patterns on the suit as well as the film more so.

Phase 2

Starting phase 2 I really wanted to expand the concept and add to the rest of the gun, to do this I needed to include the the framing across the skin. I decided to add indented areas on the backside of the gun, as well as adding framing below them to separate the parts of the gun.
After this I decided to drop the green areas as this would be done in the workbench in game with wear.
I added more detail and tried to create a feel which followed that of the mag.

Phase 3

Today I have started working on more detailed areas such as plated metal to create some variation in the design as well as add some more depth.
This is the current state of the skin. I will continue to update as I go.

    Phase 3

After going back into the texture file I decided I wanted to really give texture to the grip, looking over my resources and files compiled about the suit Kane wore in the film, I found a large amount of leather looking material on his arms and torso. I decided this would be the best material to use on the grip as it would really pop from the main body of the gun.

After doing a quick test render, I decided to drop the gun into the game to really try and get a feel for how it was looking. Upon doing this I realised that the depth on the side panels really needed a lot of work, which will be worked on tomorrow until I find a happy medium I can use.

    Phase 4

I started off today adding a little more depth to the paneling on the lower side of the body of the gun, however I still feel there is a lot of work here to be done, but im really liking the direction im moving in, taking inspiration for the panels from some of the material which is done in a similar fashion on the suit im using as my main resource.

    Phase 5

Creating more depth. I wanted to change the paneling on the skin, as to me it just felt wrong. To do this I removed the initial side panels and made them cover the top of the skin, I then moved them down the sides to follow on from what I had added.

    Phase 6

Adding more details which resembled the resources I had put together, I noticed a great looking console on the arm of Kanes suit. To add this would really give the skin that final little finish I wanted to get. I decided to make a simple yet effective console of my own combining elements from the skin I already had and adding some small lights to make it pop from the rest of the project. Not only this but during this part of the process I added a lot more depth and texture to the whole gun to make it pop more and stand out.

    Phase 7

The next phase and the part I am currently working on is the in game wear, wanting the skin to look like it has that amazing blue/green rust in game as it wears is a key element I want to capture. Below is the progress I have on this so far.
