[3dsmax][vray] Displacement Tearing Up Mesh

Hi,

I am using a vrayDisplacementMod on a mesh and it seems to be tearing up my mesh on the seams.

I tried turning on the "keep continuity" option in the vrayDisplacementMod but that didn't change anything.

It will be a huge help if someone can assist me in solving this issue.

Thanks!

Which version of 3ds Max, and which version of V-Ray?

How is the geometry different along those seams? Smoothing groups? UV splits? Material IDs?

Have you searched or posted on the V-Ray forum? That's the first place I go for V-Ray troubles, most things are answered there already.

this is with vray 3.20.03 and 3ds max 2016. I am not sure how to setup smoothing groups, or UV splits or Material ID's. I am very new to 3ds max and vray workflow. I did post on the vray forums but haven't heard anything from anyone there yet.

Did you bake the map to the rock's unwrap or is this a tiling texture? I'll point out the obvious as I've no idea if you already know that a map that hasn't been baked to that specific mesh is going to show up at the seams.
