Mermaid warrior character and environment

The deadline for this is 6th May so I'm going to try and upload very regularly and hope you guys can give me some feedback!

Brief storyline - 2 species; humans and mermaids, never got along. Curious human scuba diver interested in the mermaids home. Mermaids very protective and hate humans. A general from a scouting group found the human and was curious. Decided to get to know him. Got found out then thrown into jail as it is forbidden to befriend humans.

There will be 2 final pieces and a polished character

Initial mermaid body based on sail fish
Currently really like where it was going so i stepped away to focus on other details.
I wanted a pattern of detailed head, empty torso and detailed legs.

5th is the final tail, moving onto tail armor! Trying to keep it simplistic as I want to use colours to make it pop!

Well adding colours didn't help as I am more stuck on the colours + armour! Aaa

So decided on the 4th armour, minimalistic and I can focus on the details on the tail!

The amount of colours that I went through to get the last 5, still stuck but i think im in love with number 4
