Comcast buys Dreamworks

    Their jobs are probably more solid than if Dreamworks failed to find a buyer considering that they have been hemorrhaging money and probably were only a year or two from bankruptcy.

    Despite my previous statement, Dreamwork's jobs are just not safe. period. Especially since Cartoon Brew had some comments about the fact that the guy who runs Comcast's animation (illumination entertainment) likes to run his studios small and efficient. Considering how well the minions movie did financially, it has been paying off so far. Dreamworks of course has been bleeding money for years as they have been in a dire need to recreate the success of Shrek/Kung Fu Panda/How to Train Your Dragon.)

    Personally, I think it is because Jeffery Katzenberg can be very clueless on what audiences will see despite being in the animation industry for so long. Maybe it is because he started with so many hits. Chris Meledandri has been in the animation industry for a while but his studio's movies seem to be more successful as time goes on. Though it will really come down to how well Secret Lives of Pets will do.
