Hi all,
First of all this is
NOT an advert, I'm not selling anything. I'm trying to gauge interest in a tool I'm looking to create. It's an online tool to create height maps / splat maps / color maps. I'm currently in the process of trying to create a list of requirements and I would love peoples feedback here on if they would be interested and what they currently think is missing for current height map tools.
The URL for the website is
https://www.terrain-builder.com/ r.com as I say if you don't want to signup just email me (it's on the page at the top as well).
Hope this doesn't break any rules.

More precision then currently available tools would be nice in general. Handcrafting landscape features in WM via splines and shapes is super crude.
Export to mesh is definitely a feature I'm adding.
I think I understand, you would use the entire terrain to create a single large rock? I'm not sure about the bottom of the rock I could add some feature to connect the bottom plane of the geometry.
Would a mask that you could clamp to the terrain be enough so you could draw a mask over you terrain in a paint type canvas and clamp that to the terrain to "choose" the parts of the terrain you want to export.
I know what you mean about the layout tool in WM it's not the best. My plan is to add a terrain "sculpter" node that would allow you to sculpt the terrain out before adding more procedural elements.
Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Bottom isn't super important. I would be more then happy already with something that can serve as base for further work in zbrush etc. Painting a mask for the selection sounds good.
Some basic sculpting tools also sounds good. Would be great tool for making concave overhanging rocks aswell.
This might be something interesting to read for you. It's about making procedural rock models with help of Terragen: http://fr.slideshare.net/VesselinEfremov/authoring-of-procedural-rocks-in-the-blacksmith-realtime-short-51753674
It really relies on high poly output, very interesting.
Thanks again for the feedback this is exactly what I was looking for !!!!
