I never thought I'd be so excited to see pictures of hairy balls, but here we are! Also really happy for the new licensing! Makes it more than affordable for me, so I'll definitely be giving this a try later. Awesome work on the 4.11 hair shader! It looks amazing!
@cman2k, looks fantastic. Just a question on the licensing: if I purchased a licence to create a character asset that I would sell commercially, would every instance of sale require a licence on the buyers end? I'm assuming it would, of course. Just wondered had you considered this scenario when devising the licence terms?
@musashidan - yep, currently in order to actually utilize NeoFur in their project, they would need a NeoFur license. You aren't the first to pose this question, and we are thinking about what we could do in this vein. It is worth noting that you could make assets "NeoFur Compatible" very easily, just including the textures, morph targets or splines necessary, so that developers that had NeoFur licenses could optionally enable it.
Yes, I anticipated that. Makes sense, of course. Would it be possible to lock or bake the fur attributes to the specific character so that it could only be viewed, in a sense, and not edited or propagated to other characters on the consumer end? It certainly is a grey area and could easily be 'hacked' or taken advantage of at your loss, so it's completely understandable that it wouldn't be plausible.
Thanks for making this available! It looks great and is hell of easy to use.
One thing I can't quite seem to make work is the growth mask--the texture itself is gradated, but the falloff on the fur is super hard. Is there a setting I need to change somewhere for this to work? I tried a few different compression settings on the mask texture but no luck
Hi All, we wanted to give you a couple updates on what we're working on here at Neoglyphic with NeoFur:
1) We've got a big release pending with a ton of new features and performance updates. We'll have more information on that in the coming weeks.
2) We've been hard at work on out port of NeoFur to Unity. A lot of people have been asking for it and we're pleased to be able to announce that we're now accepting applications for beta testers. We'll be supporting Unity with the same quality, ease of use, and platform support as our Unreal solution.
Beta Signup: http://neoglyphic.com/neofur/ We are looking for people who will be excited about helping us find the usability and functionality issues with NeoFur while we are developing it. Please only apply if you have a strong interest in giving feedback and helping improve the product. Beta testers will be asked to provide on-going bug and usability feedback throughout the testing period. Currently we plan to support Unity 5.3 and up.
We're still accepting applications to try out our NeoFur for Unity beta. Applications will be accepted through the end of the day on Friday, September 2nd.
Our team is on the Unity beta list, however I was wanting to dive in and test out the process as early as possible. Would you see any issue with me purchasing an Unreal 4 Indie license while waiting to hear about the Unity beta? I wasn't sure if it was platform agnostic.
Hi everyone, it's been a while so I wanted to give a quick couple updates.
1) We now have more free downloadable demos available. We have PC-x64 demo halls from both our Unreal and Unity included content. We also have mobile demos for iOS and Android which feature a Zen garden with NeoFur objects you can interact with in realtime. If anyone has ever been dubious of our performance, now you can see for yourself. Check it out at https://www.neoglyphic.com/neofur/demo.
2) We're have a 30% off pre-sale is still going on through the end of the month for our pending release of NeoFur for Unity. Along with your discounted pre-order, you'll also get instant access to our open beta. Our release date is December 1st, 2016 at which point the price will be back to $99. With the chilly winter months ahead, stock up on your fur for Unity now!
Question, is the license good for lifetime updates? if not, than how many updates?
The license is one-off, so free updates aren't terribly relevant. You can use it once in a project, then you have to re-purchase it in order to use it in another project. Bug fixes might be another issue, though.
@tuxmask75- We've been pretty good about shipping regular bug fixes, compatibility updates, and performance improvements. We support about 15 months worth of engine updates and try to get updates for new engine versions out within 2 weeks of release.
Adding my voice to you guys, Im desperate to give my money and soul to these guys. Or at the very least some closure that is sailed off into the sunset.
