Need some new eyes on this animation.

I've watched this little clip so many times my eyes glaze over immediately. I'm really trying to fine-tune this to add to my portfolio now that I need a new job. It's a simply walk and run cycle for a dog and girl. Let me know if there's anything I can do to improve it.

Do you work with curves/splines? In general it looks like decent motion, but it feels very linear and rigid; There's some easing, but I'd definitely emphasize it more to get a better sense of weight. E.g. the rigid movement of her arms when changing pose, as well as her feet.

For the dog, I'd look at greyhounds and how they run. Mainly because they practically add the exaggeration we want.

And notice the difference in time before both front feet touch the ground. - The environment shows fast movement, but the dog does not. This either means lower gravity, or lack of giving proper weight.

Derhouse, I wanted to say that I really took your suggestions to heart. I meant to respond with a thanks sooner but ended up getting sucked into that wonderful reference video you linked. I decided to focus on the dog's run cycle since that was lacking in a huge way. I uploaded my new dog run cycle to sketchfab and got staff-choice. So really thanks, I probably wouldn't have gotten that otherwise.
