Dusted off another old model. New uv's and new textures, also fixed up some bad modelling, having too much fun rendering stuff in Toolbag. Going for the clean look, like a marketing image render
Omg this is amazing! Really nice job on that. Did the analog sticks really protrude under the controller like that? I couldnt remember. Anyways, this is really great work. Love the sight of a PS controller!
Great work man! You totally nailed the lighting and materials! The background is great in my opinion, it has that ps2 vive to it PS: I see all these people asking for wires, I honestly never found wires helpful myself lol
Thanks for the kind words, for those interested here are the wireframes.
Spoon, yeah those old controller were ugly, this model is as accurate as I could make it from photos I took of my own controller.
Axel, yep rendered in Marmoset 2, some additional post processing in Photoshop, but nothing fancy just some contrast adjustment and one of the shots the DOF looked pixelated so I blurred it slightly.
Thanks for the wires, Malcolm. I always enjoy seeing other artists embracing the n-gon. It makes some of these hard-surface type objects so much easier to work with.
This looks like it could be straight off of the packaging for a PS2! The texture on the thumbsticks is dead on, I can practically feel it. Mind if I ask how long a model this detailed too?
Marshkin, it's a bit hard to remember, I actually built the model back in 2004, and just now touched it up for modern rendering. UV's, Textures, materials and lighting took 3 days. And back in the day when I did the modelling I think I remember working on it for like like a week on and off?
My only criticism is that the handles of the controller are a bit too straight. They should be in a slight angle pointing more outwards. If you could fix that, then IMHO, it'll be perfect. (;
