Best way to approach corduroy?

Hi,

ive been asked by a client to produce a large quantity if corduroy patterened assets.

Example:

I'm currently attempting to use displacement but wondered if anyone could suggest something better as there seems to be a lack of techniques available online.

What exactly have you tried already? What's the output target? Still image? Asset?
