Maya Marking menus keep sticking after I choose the tool in the Menu

For some reason whenever I choose a tool in my marking menu, and try using it lets say slide edge tool...the marking menu keeps appearing...or my PC or maya keeps thinking I have the hotkey for the menu still pressed
