Hi everyone,

It must be so simple, however i can't figure out how to render a smooth opacity fade. I only found translucency to do it, but it doesn't render fully opaque where i would like to and seems unlit. In my case it's for dense dust in the corners of a window.

How should i make it ?

Thank you

Have you considered Dithered Opacity Mask from 4.11? The material in the below image is using it, it may not be perfect when it motion, but in a still shot it looks quite acceptable, the Temporal AA smooths it out and make it look a little nicer. I'll also note in the below image the opacity and roughness are mapped by the same input, so, roughness works just like it would on a normal material.

Awesome, it's working nice, thank you :) Glad i waited 4.11 to need this kind of render.
There was no opacity with mask and semi-transparence before ?

Not built in, I guess with some fancy material tricks it could have been possible to make something work earlier by using a white noise, but I can't be sure of the quality or the control that would have been available.
