Character Artist - Dambuster Studios
Deep Silver Dambuster Studios has an exciting opportunity within their highly talented and experienced art department for a Character Artist.
Our passion is to develop immersive gameplay experiences driven by life-like, finely detailed characters. We are seeking an individual who is eager to join our character art team and help us push visual quality and character fidelity to the next level.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create outstanding photorealistic character art under the direction of the Lead Character Artist and Art Director.
- High poly modelling and sculpture, low poly modelling, UVs, baking, texture and material creation.
- Work closely with the other members of the character art team.
- Collaborate with Concept Artists and Animators to understand and interpret character implementation requirements.
- Work with the R&D team to develop new technology, improve workflow, and resolve technical issues as required.
- Assist in designing briefs and providing feedback for outsourced work.
Requirements:
- Ability to create game-ready, efficient, animation-friendly character assets.
- Strong understanding of Photoshop, ZBrush, and at least one major 3D application.
- Understanding of game art pipelines and non-destructive, iterative workflow.
- Excellent communication skill and ability to work well in a team.
- Willingness to receive critique from the Lead Character Artist, Art Director and others in the team.
- Willingness to learn, develop and improve; and help other team members to do the same.
- Strong interest in playing video games.
- Adaptable and versatile: a can-do attitude.
A portfolio is required showing character art suitable for the current generation of gaming hardware.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge and experience of Maya.
- Previous experience of CryEngine.
- Experience working with cloth simulation and scan data.
- Traditional drawing and painting skill.
