Hi Polycount,

I'm working on a short version of a M870 Remington shotgun.
My progress so far:

I want to be able to put different stocks on it. The first one will be a folding stock so that the weapon can act as a compact PDW, the barrel will be short and the weapon will be equipped with a reddot.

There is one part where Im stuck tho and I need some help.




I'm working on the barrel right now and I get pinching with this block that sticks out of the barrel. Does anyone has tips on how the topology should flow in order to fix the pinching?

You must start higher, so that your Cylinder has from start more support edges.

basically this. you should have the barrel have a lot more sides than what it currently has, then try rewelding. the increased poly density will act as supporting geometry.

Small update, now I'm working on a red dot for the shotgun.


It is based on the Meprolight M21 red dot.

I finally added a folding stock to the shotgun, I experimented with differed stocks and went with a non fancy looking pretty simple stock.

I noticed that the proportions of the red dot were off so I remodelled some parts to match the reference better.

i think its coming slowly together. keep on it

I think your topology is a little weird on the forestock, I can see some pinching at the point where the round grip portion meets the base. That's the only 'error' I can see so far everything else looks great, keep it up!

I know it's kind of late to be saying this but your edges are extremely sharp.

Thanks for the feedback gfelton! Are they to sharp in general or in a specific area? Its never to late for such comments I will keep this in mind for my next project!
