The Beast -The Guardian
Hello!
The concept for my beast is based on the native american mythology of the Wendigo (or Windigo). The Wendigo is a creature spawned from the wrongful doings of humans, most notably a punishment for cannibalism. I thought about creating a benevolent version of this beast, rather than its nefarious origin. I wanted to keep the same rhythms as the classic story of the beauty and the beast, so I'm translating events, character, and props to fit the Algonquian peoples culture , in which the origin of the Wendigo originated.
The part of the beauty and the beast tale that struck me most as a kid, was when the mob showed up to claim vengeance on the beast. So I hope to capture a sense of injustice.
