Couple things. Could be slightly more concave. To give it more personality, maybe you could tell a story with it. Has this thing seen battle? It appears so, considering the metal rim is scuffed. If so, I would distress the wood and show impact spots where weapons hit it.
Good start! I think your value shifts could be more dramatic to give more depth to the shield. I also think the metal could have more specularity to it as that'll make it really feel like metal. Your wood could also have some more subtle hue changes to give define the material some more.
See how much change there is in the wood itself in terms of color and light? Also look at the dramatic shift of specularity in the rivets. Push for that next! You've got a lot of the basic concepts right with the scratches and grime, now start thinking about how materials differentiate from each other and your work will grow!
