Alright, I'm trying to remove a layer that came with an import. Basically the layer doesn't show up with reference editor but if you look in the layer window in the bottom right you'll see it there and when you go to select it then it will say that this is a reference to another scene.

How do i remove this as i've deleted everything else but this layer.

Actually, I think the question i should be asking is.

Why does it import layers from a previous scene if you aren't importing anything expect the shape and secondly if layers come with exports and act as references when not set as references what else comes with them?

    Are you importing or referencing?

to delete a reference you have to go to the reference editor and remove it from the scene.

Just importing. I don't tend to actually use reference imports but an import is actually acting as a reference.

Nothing shows up in the reference editor. Which is strange?

You should almost never import IMO.  Unless its like single objs.  If you're importing from other maya files, that's a recipe for disaster in terms of hidden junk nodes that even "optimize" will not remove.  Use reference to get clean imports from other maya files.  Just start a fresh scene, reference the problem maya file you're working in, duplicate the meshes you want, unload reference.  This should give you a clean file and that unwanted layer should definitely be gone.

Yeah, That was the problem i was having just a lot of junk that i couldn't find.

So, You recommend exporting with theses settings but instead with keep only a reference?
