Im thinking about getting a tablet monitor and as I cant afford a Wacom does anyone know if the Huion GT-220 is any good or would it be something you should stay away from?

I've heard a lot of bad things about Huion. Ugee 2150 seems to be the most popular Cintiq alternative right now, and has the best specifications I've found.
I looked into the Huion a few years back and at the time the gist I got was that the hardware was ok, but the Windows drivers were appalling (one reviewer said he had to re-install Win7 to get it working)
If anything, just be mindful that many reviews of these Cintiq alternatives tend to be a bit skewed on the positive side because review units are being given to reviewers. There is always full disclosure on the topic so that's not a problem in itself, but some issues are definitely not caught.
I gave the Artisul 13 a try after reading/seing many positive reviews, and while the initial impressions of the hardware were great (the connectivity itself is way better than anything Wacom has ever done), in practice the device was barely usable : the pressure was clearly not responsive enough, and the driver was force-modifying some windows settings that matter a lot to me but that reviewers didn't catch.
(On Windows, one can reduce the minimum widow drag distance to zero instead of 4-ish pixels to make everything more fluid especially for tablet users. This is done through Regedit by modifying HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop / DragHeight and DragWidth. The Artisul driver was overriding my custom value, forcing it to be even bigger than the default.)
Therefore I would agree with the sentiment that while the hardware is pretty great, I woudn't trust the drivers just yet. The one positive thing about it all is that if you buy through Amazon, getting a full refund is very easy.
