For me they re basically blueprints. I have a huge collection of cage wires saved.
Yeah, I had a collection too when I satrted 3D and modeling and I thought every wireframe was pure gold and reveals all the secrets to become a good modeler. And it did NOT help me that much. What really helped me was modeling stuff, lots of stuff, different stuff on each project. It is absolutely ok to take several approaches for a certain shape or a special transition in a mesh. I think it´s crucial to try things that DON´t work/smooth nicely and edit them by yourself and start to understand WHY things work and why others don´t.
Dude, you got some bad overlapping polygons! I´d say check the "how you model dem shapes" thread. That could really help you get your modeling skills to a decent level!
(just kidding, of course. I´m enjoying your updates and really looking foward to your textures)
Looks good, not sure about the circular area on the main body though. It looks a little odd lying on the edge there. Shouldn't it be flat on the surface?
I'm not going to screenshot a bunch of highpoly wireframes. My AK thread is full of them and techniques don't change. It's floating geometry and support loops.
as far as i know he uses neither. Still old school bad ass stealing small kids lunch money.
Yep, still just Photoshop. I have nothing against Quixel or Substance, but Photoshop is capable of many of the same automations, just in a bit of a clunkier way.

did you use substance or quixel to do the textures?
Thank you : )
