Job advice/recommendation for an amateur 3D modeler

Hello, a couple of years back then I have graduated from Humber College (around 2009) which taught me 3D modelling and animation.  After graduation, I took programming and was on a long hiatus, that is until I took a professional optional program that teaches a bit of 3D modelling but mainly on scripting and is based on 3Ds Max.  I got to admit 3D modelling was a lot more fun to do than programming, but I've always felt that its good to know a bit of programming for me who was mainly into art.

Though I am mainly into 3D modelling, I am not a professional yet; the work I've seen here in this site is beyond my level of work.  However, I want to continue to improve my 3d modelling skills along with incentives to earn myself a good living.

So as the topic suggests where can this amateur 3D modeler go to get his hands down and dirty at the same time earning some doe?

My suggestion would be to get a non-3d related job to pay the bills while you'll be improving your skills/portfolio. If you'd like to get some experience, you could also try to join a modding team or something along this line. Best of luck!

How good are you at programming? It''s been 6-7 years since you graduated the 3d art course so I'll assume you're decent at it. Wages are significantly higher for programming jobs than 3d art jobs. And it looks like it's going to take a while before you'll be at a level to earn any significant money doing 3d art.

If you really want to do game art related work then look into tech art.
