Hi, I'm looking for some general feedback on this piece. I haven't painted in a long time so it was a bit of a freestyle to get my hand moving again. The original aim was to create a warm tavern. Any feedback is welcome. Many thanks!
You got the warm feeling down pretty well I'd say! I mostly think everything looks a bit to neat and orderly for an actual cozy tavern. Put some more cups and mugs everywhere, have a bit of drink spilled, hang some more stuff from the ceiling. Maybe add a weapon to the shield above the fireplace, or a hunting trophy perhaps? I think the candles in the candelabra are a bit too small, as well. I also feel like the bar itself feels a bit too "pasted on" in the picture, especially where you see it connecting with the floor. It's probably the lack of a shadow there, and perhaps some extra blending in of colours etc. will fix it.
i kind of thought it was a 3d render at first from looking at the thumbnail. so i'd say you've got the perspective pretty accurate. but what yandalf and st4lis said. maybe add a bit of disorder. subtle storytelling to make it seem like people live and breathe in this world. overall i really like it. very warm.
Looks nice, i think you've got the general mood down well! I agree with what others have said about it feeling a bit orderly, i think having some of the wooden surfaces more warped would help too, all the beams and planks are quite straight at the moment which makes it feel more recently built or mass produced to me.
