How can i learn hand painting?

Hi, I'm trying to learn painting textures (mostly in blender , I'm going to download photoshop) but I don't know where to start. I did some textures but i can't get colour variations . When I try to blend the colours i get really fuzzy look . And I'd like to learn something about shadows and light because when I'm trying to paint it , it looks unnaturally.I pin my 2 last textures.( in my opinon : this first one  have bad colour variation and the second one is too much smoothed)

I have to practise this but it's ok now . I've tried  painting weapons (swords etc.) but I just can't. Could anyone explain it for me? I've been watching tutorials for hours but i doesnt helps.This is the sword :

well handpaint is a skill you gain by a lot and a lot of practice, don't expect to nail it one 1 try. It's the same as painting on a canvas you need to know your color and light theory, how to define material and how they react to their environment, you need to find you own style etc. Looking at someone else process won't really help you, it's something you have to learn the basic first then practice for a long time.

Take real life picture, open a 2D canvas and paint. learn from the picture.
