thanks..im not trying to change the size of the gizmo, it doesnt act right..I use to be able to click and drag on one of the axis a scale to align the verts or in that ref pic that I posted i was using it to spread out the verts on the x axis but its in some wierd mode..
You sure you didn't just hit R to many times? (every time you hit it, it changes the scale "Mode") This is the one that I see most people using since you can select the axis better.
figured it out...definitely odd. When you put the cursor on the Gizmo axis line, it allows me to flatten verts, scale outward ect ect...the cursor icon changes to a opened triangle shape thing.. i was putting the cursor past the axis lines.

Couldn't remember myself so I checked the #2 result of "3dsmax change gizmo size"
