https://gumroad.com/simonfuchs#In the first video, he does some technique where he selects some surface of his mesh, UV's it, makes a copy of that part, inserts new separate details onto the flattened UV mesh, and then the flattened UV mesh deforms back into its original shape with the new details attached. Kind of hard for me to explain.
But if you watch the video, is it possible to replicate all his techniques in maya?
if so, what functions in maya should i look into?
