ZBrush won't open project due to history size

I was working on a project using my uni's lab which has 4R6, and after I saved and closed zBrush and tried opening at home, the software would just crash. It tries to load the undo history, but the countdown just keeps increasing until zBrush gives up.

Today, I tried opening the copy that was in the PC I was working on, and I got the same results. Even the lightbox quicksave files won't open.


Is there any way to open without loading the history? Am I screwed?

Does it work in 4r7 64 bit? This is why I always save as .ztl. Makes things way easier.

Nope. Using 4r7 64 at home, only difference is that zBrush fully crashes instead of getting an "Abnormal termination" message.

Edit: Found the skip loading option on preferences. Sorry about that, I was about to freak out in here

+1 .ztl files are bulletproof. I've been using them since 1.55 and never had one fail on me.

Thanks a lot, the skip loading option on preferences fixed it to me too. Even having unchecked the option to save undo history, I don't know why today zbrush was trying to load the UH and crashed every time.

I have 4R7 P3 x64 and I can only save as .zpr, I will have to see how to save ztl.

In the tool menu on the right hand side of the interface, at the very top next to the load tool button, is the save tool button.

Thank you! I just had the same problem! This thread saved my file with the skip loading button!

Thank you guys, had the same problem! Skip button did the trick, first time I used ZPR, guess I'll stick to ZTLs!
