Help! Multiple subdivisions on multiple objects!

Hey, I'm working in Zbrush, and the time has come to combine multiple subtools/objects into one subtool/object. However, the objects/subtools I'm working with all have different subdivision levels. Is combining them going to mess this up? How do I prevent this? Thanks for the help, everyone.

Sometime you can keep your subdivision by having the same amout of subdiv and merging em at  the highest,

EDIT: nope, that doesn't seem to be working; it just removes all subdivision levels if I try it.

Are you merging down gradually, or merging all at once? Merging down will keep levels as long as they are on the same number at the time of merging.

You should be able to reconstruct subdivs even if you lose them from merging.  If you merge a mesh with 5 divisions and another with 3, you will be able to reconstruct at most 3 of the combined object's subdivisions.  ZBrush won't be able to reconstruct any further if it results in triangles or ngons.
