Oh wow, looks like a really cool and unique tool, that could save loads of time, for certain types of modelling. I do wonder though how useful it may be outside of its sphere of specialty.
It runs not so smooth, the brush feels weird, but sure was fun. When you have a really long stroke the lines can break, like it doesn't have enough polygons.
Will be trying this out soon. I had an idea to make something similar to this when I was messing with a 2D program called alchemy. It just places 2D shapes randomly to get silhouettes for concept art. I thought it would be cool to translate that into 3D.
Is it actually a pen that takes lines and turns them into 3D (i.e like how splines can take a circle and turn it into a torus)? Or is it a brush that just copies 3d objects over a path?
If it's the first option, that would be huge. I'd love to sketch stuff like triangles and have them become instant 3d spikes.
Well there's a drawing plane that you can quickly rotate around a 3d scene, then you draw strokes on it. I haven't played with all the tools yet, my impression is that each strokes are actual model and the apps pull them into your strokes. At least that's what I think seeing how longer strokes looks like (looks like a broken geometry).
There may be more modes you can play with from what I see in their demo video.
Haven't used it myself but yes it's definitely showing off a lot of placing instances of an object along a drawn path, but there are other methods you can see in the video too such as a spline lathe tool. There was a bit in the video where they generate a new solid mesh, just like in zbrush. Jump to 2:28 to see it. You can see the quick remesh feature in the top right where they click.

anyway does the download link to the portable/zip version work for anybody? all i get is an empty file from that.
