Making a new thread to act as a journal for my personal work. I haven't worked on my own stuff for quite a while, but I'm hoping this thread will keep me on track.
----- Here's something I started today. It's sort of an animated chair that moves around and attacks things. I'm contemplating having the cushions open up to reveal a mouth, but we'll see. The legs are just about finished HP-wise, and I also made a test animation to see if my idea was working.
That is really cool I love the , i would defiantly add the buttons to the back of the chair i feel that would add a lot to the piece, also some definition to the arms like adding the wood bits (your prlly planning on doing this lol) But i love the concept and the movement!
Wow, its been awhile since I've updated. After a hiatus, I've been working on the chair again. Here's an update. I'm at the point of adding in small details.
Sculpt is looking great so far! The undersides of the armrests seem a little off to me. Either too big or droopy to match to the fancy trim. I look forward to seeing more.
Hey thanks! I see what you mean about the droopiness, I was trying to go for a worn out look, but I think I'll tighten those up a bit on the next pass.
Really nice mat and details, something came to me idk if anyone mentioned it but maybe a shiny part at the ends of the arm rest to become eyes? at the swirl tip ends of the arm rest near the mouth.
That's looking great :] What's your workflow when it comes to creating all of these swirls? Just straight up sculpting or using something like curve brushes to lay down initial geo and then proceed from there?
@DavidCruz - I've thought about doing eyes there yeah, I think on the next pass I'll try it out to see!
@Tzur_H - I'm generating very simple base meshes in Max, then just straight up sculpting it to get the basic swirls shapes in, and then fixing the topology with ZRemesher so I get even polys and no weird tweaks. I end up doing that a couple times before I settle on a design I like.
Made some more progress on this. Finally finished the sculpting, and touched up the old rig I made for it to make sure I'm still on track with what I want to do with it. Ran through a quick and dirty walk cycle as a test. Next on the agenda are the lp and textures.
Here's a start on my next model. The Gibbering Mouther is one of my favorite D&D monsters. I've been thinking of making something that will present a unique rigging challenge, so I hope to learn a lot on this one. Once I get all the mouths and eyes in I'll take it into ZB.
Reworking a project I messed around with from last year for the Retrogasm contest. Gonna try and actually finish the thing but hoping to make it better than its original pass.

Here's a small update. Rough/Draft sculpt of the front filigree, mostly just planning out their flow and such.
Such a nice sculpt!

I think I'm finished sculpting the bottom.

This is what I expect all chairs at antique shops to do when I approach them.

Did this as a quick project over the holiday break.

Here's an update on the textures so far. Eyes aren't quite blending in well enough with the eye sockets, I think I may go back and edit at some point.
