Hello everyone! I've been all over Darkest Dungeon lately, and wondered how well I'd be able to translate the game's dark 2D comic book style into 3D handpainted work. So I started out in recreating the Vestal character from the game. While working I kept thinking further on the idea of building this into a small scene of its own. This thread will track my progress over the coming weeks on this.
So after some tinkering about I feel I've pretty much finished the Vestal.
I started work on a second character now, the Crusader. I'm currently blocking in the shadows in his texture.

You should brand your images. See Your Portfolio Repels Jobs and the wiki Portfolio page for info.
Shyralon, this is 100% handpainted. A shader would definitely have been cool, but since I'm planning on making this a sketchfab diorama I don't think it would be an option.
As always, CC welcome!
Cthulhu fth'agn!
Here's a little teaser for the 4th and final hero!
See you guys soon!
The faces look a bit weird too. Maybe the noses are too long and the nose-to-chin a bit short?
Awesome stuff otherwise though. I especially like the knight.
You might definitely be on to something with the noses there (looking back, especially on the Vestal it seems)! I'll take another look at those.
As for the turban, while it doesn't have a lower density it is suffering from some stretching which might be the cause of the somewhat blurry look, especially around the edges. This was mostly done for ease of texturing reasons, but I guess I can see if I can fix the worst areas a bit. Thanks for pointing this out!
The hardest part of the texture for the Hellion is done, so have a WIP!
Had some trouble here with the UVs for the hair and fur, which required quite some fiddling around with.
Now what's left is adding the grain and faint highlights, and shoving in a rig.
Until next time (hopefully sooner)!
Next up the environment and some touchups. Stay tuned!

Enjoy! And thank you all for the kind words, advice, and other comments!
Daew, I've been trying to add some more light to the scene, but I was never satisfied with the results. You're definitely right that it's quite dark, I just never managed to brighten it and keep the looks consistent. Good suggestions though
