Because im tired of my AK-74 and im really not happy with the "Midpoly" i decided to left the AK for now and to start a project to fill my portfolio quick with a new model. Why i made it midpoly? Lol...i dont know....
Its a Serbu Remington 870 Super Shorty mainly inspired by Eric Radings work. Thanks for this
I already baked the hp weapon down to a 5,8k triangles lp:
Next step is texturing.
And because the weapon is a bit boring without attachements. I will make a Strap, a sight and a Ammo Holder.

I think its not so easy to texture this Gun without attachements, because there are not many different Materials on the gun. So its heavy to make her look interesting.
The main problem is that the textures look different in Quixel then in Unreal.
First when import the Maps, the Weapon looks to Glossy. So i unchecked sRGB for the Roughnessmap.
After unchecking sRGB, the weapon looks more Rough then in Quixel Suite, even if i use the Epic Courtyard Lightning in Quixel.
So what do you think about the textures? Please give me your critic

Maybe shes a bit off, maybe not, cause i worked the rail out of a side view reference. I doesn´t used a Frontview for the angles.

Dont know if this will help you cause i worked both with Modo and Max for the HighPolys:
The Ammo and the Sights are Made only in Max. The Rail/Ammoholder and the Flashhider were quickly booled in Modo.
Really dont want to spend to much time with Shading Issues when making Holes in curvy geometry in Max.

You should for reals focus on some of the materials the weapon has atm and tone back the amount of damage it has.
It looks so out of place. The modeling seem neat, but all that over the top texturing makes it looks bad.
Get a couple of cool photos that have the type of materials you want for the gun, and a couple of cool photos that have the damage that you want and try to mimic those.
And no, even if your weapon is following some weird photo that you found.. no, just no. Get better ones. Part of texturing is having good taste, and knowing what looks cool. You gotta train that part sir.
Even if you think you are done with this piece I would totally go back and rework these textures.
