I've been quiet around here for a while, was launching my first mobile game (Cliffy Run on iOS and android) but ready to do some sculpting after a few months of low poly work.
Wasn't too happy with the direction I was going in, so I started to play with some new forms. Still formulating the narrative but much happier with this sculpt.
Small update, working on refining shape. Totally agree with @Dimfistthat the early sculpt was blobby.
For the narrative I want to build on moby dick. I am thinking of this guy as a massive protector that lives to serve the ocean as a whole by destroying those that seek to harm it (like whalers). For the final render I am currently envisioning a small harem of whales following behind/around this guy to convey his scale and role as a guardian. I might also put some wreckage in his mouth and sinking around him.
Refining the whale shape. I really like the idea of incorporating some of the bioluminescence of deep sea creatures into the beast so I am trying that out.
