Zbrush - Inflate mesh, but if it collides with something, stop inflating the area that collided?

I'm making a braided ponytail.   I want to inflate the braids, but I want the area that begins colliding with the other braids to stop inflating.

Does that make sense?

Inflate with collision detection or something?
