I think you really picked the right colours because the total works much better for me after seeing that! One thing though: I think he's a little out of balance, his feet/ankles feel too small for him to carry himself. Good luck!
Going good! I think the fur density on his knees/legs is too high, it's kinda dirty and distracting this way. I would make it more like how it is on the upper arms.
Thanks guys! yeah @8bitTurtle Ive struggled alot with it on this project... idk if what I have is the best result but I wanted to try something new. and good point @Enalya I tried putting some lighter brown gradient into the tufts initially but changed it for some reason. Thanks!
Hey! I really like the forms of this guy, but one thing that bugs me (mostly due to technical preference) is that your hair tufts are pretty wild, and they might give you a bit of a headache when you get to your retopo stage-- particularly in the knees-- If I could make a recommendation is that you sculpt from one big blob of clay and create some tight tufts of hair from that in a flowing direction, then if you feel inclined, add your smaller tufts as insert meshes one by one, for better control. Totally digging his facial expression and I like where the colors are headed. Have a couple examples I hope will help
hope this makes your work easier! keep up the good work!

Good luck!
I do think the hair on the knees seems strange, I would expect that hair to cover the calf area. Agreed w/ the balance. Loving this!
