Hey guys, I'm trying to get a general idea of when to use designer vs painter. It seems like they can both do similar things aside from the obvious substance creation. I guess what I'm really trying to ask is, what properties does a mesh need to have that you would choose designer over painter and vice versa. For instance, if I have mesh A which is a wall and mesh B which is a couch, which would I choose for A and B?

Painter shines when you are creating materials that are unique to an object, such as your couch maybe, or a character or a complex prop.
