Hey all, just starting this thread to post my progress through a handful of practice projects, as well as learning Substance Painter/Designer (moving away from Quixel).
First up is re-doing a Mk2 hand grenade I did in
2008 (8 years ago!) (thanks Tim Bergholz @ Chamfer Zone):

Either way good stuff that your improving
It is my own model, not Tim's/Chamfer Zone's. They're both models of the Mk2 Grenade hence the similarity

Does anyone know how to do non-square texture sizes in Substance Painter? The texture is stretched at the moment as its 2048x2048 however it needs to be 2048x512. Any ideas?!
I kicked myself over how obvious it was once I actually took a second to figure it out.
*EDIT*
Nevermind, it does work!
Been trying to get to grips with Substance Designer... Not over the moon with the results so far but I really got to wrap this one up soon spent way too long on it!
Any suggestions/crits before I move onto the albedo + roughness??
Any crits? Not overly pleased with how the colours are coming out so far.
I may just call this one done and move onto something else though?
Anytime i hit an obstacle i usually move onto something new and return back later with fresh eyes and new ideas, couple that with the fact that you might get some suggestions here about how to address you're problem, i'd say you should start a new project and come back at this in a couple of days.
Also, latetly i've been seeing great stuff done with substance, i'm bound to try it out any day now, both designer and painter.
I made a few changes and I'm calling it done:
What's the best way to get the wood grain effect/wood knots??
