Hi guys,
I'm going with a classic fantasy/fairytail theme for this challenge.
Bascially its about a troll that acts a bit like a magpie (mainly collecting shiny/pretty things from humans). One day he nicks the ultimate bling: the princess crown! This will ultimately lead to his downfall because the king isn't to happy about the whole thing etc. etc.
For reference I'm mainly using Paul Bonner, John Bauer and Petar Meseldzija (The Book of Giants)
Here is a very rough blockout of the whole scene (C&C are very appreciated!):

@vickgaza you're absolutely right. i'm planning on creating the base with a human stand-in later on to get the scale right.
heres the next update. roughed in the anatomy. still all separate pieces, so the transitions and a few other spots are quite rough and/or more on the ecorche side. hair is also just a reference for haircards. hope you like it
By the way, character looks cool so far! Magpie troll, what a nice idea
thank you for your kind words everyone! it's much appreciated.
@Lotet - yeah you're right we really are doing a very similar theme. cool to see how different the output is though. good luck...nemesis
@LexiWhite - well the idea is to go with an astonished or rather dumbstruck look. something like this i guess (i'm obviously referencing the hair already)
anyway i started blocking basemeshes for all the stuff the troll is carrying around. i'll probably change/add quite a bit of stuff on these later on.
first up the viking shield on his back:
first up a tasset armour piece (worn on his left upper arm) taken from a foolish knight (that got stomped to death):
and a torc especially made by some dwarve armourers (so he wouldn't stomp them to death):
