Zbrush - Append spotlight image to tool?

I have a 5 million polygon mesh.
I have a 6k resolution image.

I need to attach/append the spotlight image to the mesh. That way when I move/scale/zoom/scroll the mesh the spotlight follows.

This way I can paint maximum detail onto the mesh at super high resolution.

The spotlight projects exactly what you're seeing on to the mesh.  If your spotlight image is scaled small, it will project low resolution onto the mesh which causes blurring. (This blurring has nothing to do with the mesh since my mesh is 5 million polygons).

When I scale the spotlight image super big and then paint on the mesh, it looks great. The problem is I can't make the spotlight image attach/append to the mesh.  So I have no idea how to align the image to the mesh from where I left off.

Anyone get what I'm saying?  I really need to fix this.

    Not sure if this helps, but

    1) you can paint always the same portion of an image by activating "pin spotlight" on the controller;

    2) in order to store a particular view ("front", "left"...) for the model, you can use zapplink ("document", "zapplink properties").

    Thanks. I didn't have time to try this unfortunately, but I will look into it.

    I ended up using the techniques found in this tutorial:

    Projection Mapping, Zapplink, Photoshop, Liquify. It allowed me to project a very high resolution image onto the model without losing detail (no blurriness).
