Issyscribbles polycounter lvl 3
Hey, I'm a recent graduate for game art, and am looking to improve my portfolio further.
I appreciate any comments and critiques given!

These are all hand-painted, flat diffuse. I decided to paint depth in instead of relying on normal maps to create a more stylized and fantastical feeling. Most things are very low poly in this, as I like to practice keeping it minimal.

Here's the sheet itself. Granted, the planning itself wasn't wonderful, since I was on a huge time-limit (Staring at the ginormous space I used for a medium-sized key), but I tried my best given the time and skills I have.

Once again, any critiques are welcome, I want to get better.

I really like your texture style, but I think you could improve your models shape-wise. I don't have the possibilty to do a paintover right now, but everything feels a little straight and blocky.

What Fenyce Said, your textures are good. But you really should add more polys to some things. Unless you aiming for mobile off course. Also I think your scene is lacking some color variation. Maybe hint at a window at the top of the library that lets in some moonlight? This way you could get in some blues and some nice contrast in to your scene.

Thank you for both of your comments! Originally the library was taller, and I had blues/purples further up to create a fantastical feel, but it never seeped into the bottom, so I'll try playing with the lighting and cutting a few polys into the models and see how they look! :)

Thanks for taking the time once again!

I love the first pic, it really looks like a pop-up book come to life. If that's what you're going for it might be interesting to play with faceted meshes for some of the rounder objects like the knobs and candles for the folded paper look. I think more/brighter light would be beneficial overall, but I also really like the hard shadows you have going on, so I'd love to see them preserved. More color variation and contrast in the books would help them pop as well. Overall loving it!
