Sci fi Transform weapon heavy pistol WIP

The concept of this weapon is that it in its normal mode, it functions as a normal heavy pistol. Then when it transforms, it becomes a sort of electrified whip with a claw at the end.

My rough sketches of the concept:




So far here is the hipoly:


Currently making the lowpoly version, so if anyone got any feedback on the model or the design itself, now would be an ok time for me to make changes. 

I am probably going to re design the handle if i have time as it seems kind of weak.

small update. here's my low poly, normalmap and AO. But lowpoly seems to be on the high side. Let me know if I'm doing something wrong.

Nothing wrong, persay, but if you are looking to reduce the tricount, you might want to look at all the cylindrical areas on the gun, they look a little heavy.  The hand/trigger guard area looks like you could get away with fewer horizontal edge loops.

I can't tell in the wireframe image, but it looks like you may be modeling on the lowpoly a lot of details that might be better on the normal map.  (Mostly on the rear two circular joints.)
