What programs can save *.rcs *.rcp point clouds?

I need a point cloud from a friend to get into my 3ds max. He uses agisoft photoscan which is able to export point clouds into many formats, but sadly none is compatible with 3ds max. 3ds Max allows to import only rcs and rcp format which is from autodesk recap (which i do not own and it isnt free AFAIK).

So i want to convert the point clouds from one of the formats from agisoft photoscan in some OTHER software to rcp or rcs (agisoft cannot save directly to rcs rcp) and import that into 3ds max.

What ALL programs can save/export into rcs or rcp formats? Recap, what else? Autocad? Inventor? Something else...even free? (believe it or not, this information is hard/unable to be found even on the internet).

Is there a reason why you can't mesh the point cloud in Agisoft and send it to Max that way?

Yes, there are very thin surfaces in the scan which is agisoft not possible to mesh (he just makes big holes there) so i need to mesh those thign surfaces by hand in 3ds max for a friend on a project we are working on.

Which application is able to export/save out rcp or rcs please?

It looks like Recap has a free version. It also has 30-day trial versions for the two other versions.

What formats can Photoscan spit out? I would search for converters from those formats to the 3ds Max ones.

agisoft can export point clouds into:  u3d    txt    ply     las     obj   pdf (???)

IIRC someone made a PLY importer for Max. Might not work with Max's point cloud rendering system though? Search those formats on Scriptspot, and on Maxplugins . Max definitely supports OBJ out of the box.

Yeah thanks, obj doesnt import the point, but i managed to get it working via that free version of Recap that lets me export the rcs format. But now i have another problem. The import into max 2016 is ok now, but the snap setting for point clouds doesnt work... it ignores it... Dont you know where the problem might be now? I think its a bug?

Is your transform center set to Use Selection Center?

That doesnt seems to work... its weird.. i searched the internet and found only one other person (on redit) having similiar issues, he says he didnt have the problem when on max 2015 but hwne he switched to max 2016 the problem occured... He solved it switching to max 2015... which i dont have...
Dont somebody know wheres the problem? Couldnt SP or extension fix it? Isnt it a bug of some sort?
