Blizzard Entertainment seeks a technically savvy and artistically gifted senior artist to work on the award winning game, StarCraft II. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience modeling and texturing high resolution assets for in-game cinematics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create high-resolution models and textures for in-game cinematics and portraits.
- Work with the story art lead to develop and integrate toolsets for the story team, and liaise with department heads to solve technical problems.
- Work closely with game design to ensure art supports a gameplay-first player experience.
- Mentor more junior team members on next-gen tools and techniques.
- Meet production deadlines, performance standards, and visual standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 7 years’ 3D layout, high resolution modeling, and texturing experience. Lighting experience preferred
- A thorough understanding of in-game cinematic pipelines and the processes involved from the conceptual phase to implementation
- Able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary art team to help bring environments to life within the vision of the game design
- Exceptional skill in Zbrush, 3DS Max, and Photoshop
- Extensive experience with the creation of next-gen shaders, and materials
- Superior eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps
- Experience in creating visual designs that support gameplay oriented goals
- An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling.
- Advanced skill in two or more of the related creation tasks - modeling, texturing, lighting, and FX
- Good technical chops and the ability to quickly master new pipelines and tools
- Self-motivation, good communication skills, and a great team-player attitude
- Proven ability to mentor effectively
PLUSES
- Have shipped AAA PC or console titles in a senior or lead position
- A passion for developing games
- Understanding of the visual style of StarCraft and a passion to push it to the next level
- Extensive experience with the StarCraft engine and editor
