The Mutant

A scientist working in a secret facility, received a strange meteorite for examination. Observing  the rock alone one night, it suddenly opened up, releasing an unknown substance. He began to feel very sick and weak. Within a few weeks he began mutating into something unknown. He was put into quarantine at first, but as his mutation continued, he was locked into confinement for observation. His wife and son were told he had died to cover up the accident. The man accepted that he could never leave, and that he would never see his family again.

Been working on the model for a few days, wasn't happy with it at first but am slowly getting there. Still not 100% with the general face, but otherwise things are coming along. Still a lot of work to do on this. I've just started on the legs and will post more progress later!

It is look good it will be nice to see the progress, it sort of remind me of the Mirelurks from fallout 4. I have been to your website and wow you produce some great work so am looking forward to this.

Finally put legs on this and got some of the basic forms. Played with the overall proportions a bit. Still gotta work on getting this base anatomy down before I move on to detail. Not happy with the pelvic area or back yet, but I think I'll get there this weekend!

Might not look like I changed anything... but I did! Hands and claws have been sculpted, and I've started adding small detail everywhere. Still a lot more to do, but thought I'd show some progress:

Another small update... now with a different shader! I'll probably continue with leg detail next.

The model is looking nice and clean, great work. This is maybe just preference but I feel like you could push his arms more to show off the natural curves in anatomy, it's pretty minor but may help push it some more. Hope you don't mind, but I did a quick drawover to show what I am talking about. Keep up the good work.

Worked on the legs more tonight, still need to finish general mid-sized detail, then fine detail... Hopefully I'll make some good progress tomorrow!

Hi - looking  great - I am curious  to see  how  you  detail up  the  mouth area  under the  tentacles.

Thanks @McJAKe ! Hadn't really thought much about that area, added a little detail there so it doesn't look so empty. 

More detailing overall on the torso. Added nostrils cause I kept thinking about it. I think it adds more character. Still thinking about the gill things, may do something more with them but not sure. Getting close to done with the torso, still some refining left to do on the legs. Can't wait to finish it up and add some skin texture!

I've done the retopo and added some skin detailing. I think this may be it for the sculpt, have lots left to do:

Added a bit more detail and transferred detail to the low poly. The model is only about 36k total, but hey, works for me! I still need to figure out the pose, scene and any accessories... I hope to finish this contest in time, but with some recent developments, I may not make it in time But, I'll do my best!
